Extras

Thanks to special protective tubes and push-in safety devices, HAHN gas springs can also be used in difficult environments. For even more extreme conditions, our specialists and technicians develop intelligent solutions that meet almost every requirement

1 - Scraper

The wiper is installed inside the guide and prevents foreign matter from entering the gas spring when the piston rod is retracted and protects the guides, seals and other elements. The wiper consists of either FKM or NBR.

2 - Transverse valve

The transverse valve allows direct installation in the application and on-site force adjustment. This eliminates the time-consuming installation and removal of the gas spring, which has to be carried out with a force adjustment using a standard valve.

3 - Piston rod seal

The installation of a piston rod seal is only possible with lockable gas springs and is mounted on the threaded side of the piston rod. It prevents moisture, cleaning agents and other foreign particles from penetrating the release system of the lockable gas spring.

4 - Grease chamber

Thanks to the grease chamber , the piston rod is permanently lubricated in every installation position, which prevents the seal from drying out. When designing the gas spring, a reduction in the usable stroke may have to be taken into account

5 - Valve

Like the transverse valve, the valve enables the gas pressure spring to be precisely adjusted on site to the desired conditions and, unlike the transverse valve, is located in the threaded pin of the base piece. With a gas spring, the valve is located as a valve attachment on the piston rod.

6 - Protective tube

The protection tube is located on the piston rod, protects against physical and mechanical damage and reduces the risk of kinking during long strokes. In addition, the protective tube reduces the effects of the weather on the piston rod and is used, for example, in a horse trailer to protect the piston rod from damage. The protective tube can also be retrofitted.

7 - Floating piston

Regardless of the installation position, the floating piston is an oil-hydraulic damping and dampens the speed over the entire stroke of the gas pressure spring With our damper series, the idle stroke is not lost with a floating piston.

8 - Slide-in fuse

The push- in safety device is a physical and mechanical blockage when the piston rod is extended and prevents the gas spring from suddenly retracting. It is movably attached to the piston rod and eccentrically mounted. When the piston rod is extended, the support tube can be pressed against the flat side of the guide. This creates a mechanical lock that prevents retraction. The drawer lock is often used at market stalls and must be "unlocked" manually.

9 - Short trip

The release path for lockable gas springs with a short release is 0.1 - 0.2 mm (standard 2-5 mm). With the short release, the actuation path of the release plunger is only 0.1-0.2 mm (standard 2-5 mm). This means that the lockable gas spring reacts even when the release is actuated a little and does not have to be actuated > 3mm in order to react reliably.

10-Tab Recuder

The HAHN Reducer is used for safe and convenient force reduction in gas springs with a valve. It is screwed onto the thread of the bottom piece valve. By pressing on the handle, the release plunger opens the valve and gas can escape. The pressure on the handle must not be permanent, but must be applied at short intervals. The HAHN Reducer is available in the following 5 different sizes:

11 - TAP Clean Cap

With the HAHN Clean Capit is a cap for subsequent assembly. The Clean Cap is used to protect the piston rod seal by wiping off the dirt when the piston rod retracts, thus preventing foreign particles from penetrating the interior of the gas spring.

Stroke and power losses:

B3 - sealing system

The B3 sealing system is used for gas springs with high forces and increased stress (shocks, vibrations), for example when used in construction machinery. When designing the gas pressure spring, a reduction in the usable stroke must be taken into account.

NT - low temperature version

NT low-temperature version is used at an ambient temperature down to -40 degrees. When designing, a reduction in the usable stroke may have to be taken into account.

HT - high temperature version

HT high-temperature version is used at an ambient temperature of up to 200 degrees. When designing, a reduction in the usable stroke may have to be taken into account.

RK - friction element

The friction element increases the frictional force in gas springs, which is responsible for the safe positioning of windows, hatches, etc. An elastic foam ring is installed on the piston. The diameter of the ring is significantly larger than the inner diameter of the pressure tube, so the foam is compressed in the pressure tube and creates increased friction.
