PAGUFLEX® PLUS is a type of flexible shaft coupling that has been developed using a thermoplastic ether ester elastomer (TEEE) called HYTREL® from DuPont. This coupling has a double loop-shaped compensating element that enables it to deal with shaft displacement problems in motive power engineering and measurement and control techniques.
The PAGUFLEX® PLUS coupling has been recommended for use in a range of applications, including shaft-angle encoders, counting mechanisms, tachogenerators, servo valves, elevating tables, feeding drives, pumps, compressors, and ventilators, as well as kitchen equipment, office systems, textile machines, and numerous applications in the automobile and aircraft industries.
The coupling is made from a single piece of HYTREL® material, which makes it frictionless, wearless, and silent, without any structure-borne sounds. It enables play-free and shock-free power transmission, effective vibration damping, and sound insulation, even during changes in direction of rotation or torque fluctuations with load direction reversal.
The high flexibility of the thermoplastic coupling element effectively lightens the burden of the shaft bearings of motors and machines, even in circumstances of large radial and angular alignment errors. This enables the bearings to run quieter, warm up less, and achieve longer durability, thus lengthening the service life.
The PAGUFLEX® PLUS coupling has a range of benefits, including high torsional rigidity with optimal bending and traction or thrust flexibility, an ingeniously simple constructional principle, a one-piece design without play, friction, wear, and structure vibrations, and simple fitting without extra machining of the shaft journals.
The coupling has extremely high, permissible displacement error values, such as angular approximately ±15°, radial approximately ±3 mm, and axial approximately 10 to 20 mm. It can also be used as a universal joint for large or intermittent bending angles of the shaft.
The elastic element made of HYTREL® offers high operational reliability in the temperature range between -40°C and +100°C, outstanding chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, solvents, oils, gases, ozone, high tear propagation resistance, high low-temperature flexibility, high abrasion resistance, and reverse bending strength. It also provides insulation from heat, structure-borne noise, and leakage currents and damping of vibration and shock.
The PAGUFLEX® PLUS coupling is an excellent safety element as well, as the elastic body can shear off as a result of overload, limiting the damage to the coupling.
